RELIANCE FOUNDATION MACHLI APPLICATION
Reliance Foundation, setup in 2010, has partnered with Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Govt. of India to develop MACHLI (fish) an android application as a one-stop solution for all fisherman needs. This app provides daily Ocean state forecast at a distance of 50 km from each fish landing site (about 1400 of them) spread across all the India coastline from Bengal to Gujarat. Fisherman can listen to the daily audio forecast in their native language at any time of their convenience.

“Machli” app is an Artificial Intelligence based mobile application jointly developed by Reliance Foundation Information Services (RFIS) Programme, Centre of Excellence – AI/ML Jio and Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS). Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India.The main priority of the application is safety of fisher folk and their assets particularly not venturing into the sea during the adverse weather conditions. This application is available in 9 indian languages which covers entire coast of India.
Ocean State Forecast (OSF)
Potential Fishing Zone(PFZ)
The app provides real-time updates on critical weather and oceanographic parameters such as wind speed, wave height, strength of ocean current to marine fishermen on the Indian coastline in nine Indian languages.
PFZ
The PFZ provides the information on location (latitude, longitude), the depth at PFZ location and the distance and direction from easily identifiable prominent sites on the coast like fishing landing centre, light houses.
